Clifford J. Hendel and Ángel S. Freire, partner and associate of the Arbitration Department at our firm, will be participating as speakers at the 61st Congress of the International Bar Association (UIA), which will take place between October 27-31 in Toronto.
Partner Clifford Hendel will participate in a panel on arbitration and governance in sport. With regard to “International Arbitration in Sport in North America and Europe”, different experiences and arbitration structures will be analyzed and evaluated in major sports in North America and Europe. Particular attention will be paid to the way in which the arbitration system operates, from a comparative law perspective. Sports sanctions (such as sports federations), including cases before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAS), will also be discussed. Regarding “Models of Governance in Sport”, experts from the sports industry, advisers and members of the governing bodies will be invited to discuss Governance Models in the main sports on both sides of the Atlantic.
Senior Associate Ángel S. Freire will participate in a roundtable on foreign investment in Latin America and investment arbitrations.
